The home of Jacob and family at Three Mile Run was originally the parsonage of Domine Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghuysen, 1st Christian minister of the region whose parish, covering a large part of two counties, included the Dutch (Ref.) Churches of Raritan or Somerville, New Brunswick, Three Mile Run, Six Mile Run, and Sourland (Harlingen).

Jacob Skillman and Mary Hageman were married about 1798. Mary Hageman, daughter of Benjamin Hageman and Sarah Voorhees, was born on 13 March 1767 in Six Mile Run, Franklin, Somerset, NJ. Hoagland website has b. April 18, 1767. She died on 25 October 1840 at the age of 73 in Six Mile Run, Franklin, Somerset, NJ. She was buried at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Franklin Pk., Middlesex, NJ. Her tombstone reads: "In memory of Mary Hageman, wife of Jacob Skillman, who died October 25, 1840, aged 73 years, 7 months and 12 days". From SOA:
