503. Dr. Jacob Ten Broeck Skillman was born on 10 March 1794 in New Jersey. He graduated in 1816 at Union College in Schenectady, NY. Same class with William H. Seward, Sec'y of State under A. Lincoln and A. Johnson; in 1867 purchased the Alaska territory, an action ridiculed by his contemporaries as "Seward's Folly.". He died on 26 June 1864 at the age of 70. Jacob was a surgeon in New Brunswick, Middlesex, NJ. His SOA Number is 116.

Dr. Jacob Ten Broeck Skillman and Rachel Corey Ayres were married on 14 November 1822. They appeared in the census in 1850 in North Brunswick Twp., Middlesex, NJ. They appeared in the census in 1860 in New Brunswick, Middlesex, NJ. Rachel Corey Ayres, daughter of Enos R. Ayres and Sarah Corey, was born on 2 April 1798 in Woodbridge, Middlesex, NJ. She died on 17 May 1883 at the age of 85.

1639	iv.	Alanson Freeman Skillman was born on 8 March 1829. He was baptized on 26 July 1829 at Six Mile Run Dutch Reformed Church in Franklin Park, NJ. He died in 1832 at the age of 3.
1640	v.	Louisa Adeline Skillman was born on 27 February 1831. She was baptized on 2 October 1831 at Six Mile Run Dutch Reformed Church in Franklin Park, NJ. She died in 1832 at the age of 1.
