511. Aaron Jacob Skillman was born on 23 June 1810 in Three Mile Run, New Brunswick, Somerset, NJ. He was baptized on 22 July 1810 at Six Mile Run Dutch Reformed Church, in Franklin Park, NJ. He immigrated in 1854 to Mt. Clemens, Macomb, MI. Aaron immigrated in 1861 to Perkins, Erie, OH. He died on 21 August 1869 at the age of 59 in Sandusky, Perkins, Erie, OH. He was buried in Near Sandusky, Erie, OH. His SOA Number is 121*. As the 10th son of Jacob, he has no SOA number in Jacob's children's listing. His data was added later, following his brother, Thomas, with the same SOA number, 121, but in Italics with a star following the number. From SOA:
The family in 1854, removed to Mt. Clemens, Macomb Co., Mich., where certain Beekmans, Skillmans and other N. J. families had early settled.

Later relocated to Erie Co., Ohio.


Aaron Jacob Skillman and Eliza Ann Van Nostrand were married on 6 April 1831 in Three Mile Run, New Brunswick, Somerset, NJ. Eliza Ann Van Nostrand, daughter of Jacob Van Nostrand and Catharine Hatfield, was born on 6 April 1812 in New Jersey. She was baptized on 21 June 1812. She died on 1 December 1895 at the age of 83 in Mansfield, Richland, OH. Sterling Sanford's genealogy chart has d. 8/21/1867(9?) Eliza was buried in Near Sandusky, Erie, OH.

From M. Wrona, 9/30/2003: "After Anna's death her second husband abandoned Arthur Walker, George Hunter and Frank Wm. Hunter. My grandfather's Uncle Isaac Skillman (#1940) went to Malcolm, NE and found the two of the youngsters living in a cardboard box and begging for food. He brought Arthur Walker and Frank Wm. Hunter back to Ohio. George was thought to have been taken out west by a family. Uncle Isaac searched for him but he was never found."
