1693. Sgt. Martin Luther Skillman was born on 21 August 1838 in Three Mile Run, New Brunswick, Somerset, NJ. 1920 Census, son Walter says born in Ohio. He immigrated in 1852 to Michigan. He served in the military between 11 August 1862 and 12 June 1865 at Civil War. Co. G, 123rd Reg. Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Captured June 15, 1863 at battle of Winchester, Va.; mustered out with company June 12, 1865, in Camp Chase, Ohio. Martin lived in Mt. Clemens, Macomb, MI in August 1877. He died on 9 April 1927 at the age of 88 in Detroit, Wayne, MI. He was buried at Clinton Grove Cemetery in Clinton, Macomb, MI.

He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows since 1870 and also the Knights of the Maccabees. He was a Republican.
