4387. Rev. David Sylvester Skillman was born on 14 September 1845 in New York. In 1870 he was a farmer in West Union Twp., Steuben, NY. In 1900 he was a minister. David died on 29 January 1912 at the age of 66. He was buried on 31 January 1912 at Bemus Point Cemetery in Ellery Center, Chatauqua, NY. Buried in Lot 224, G-1.

Rev. David Sylvester Skillman and Mary Ann Dailey were married in 1869. They appeared in the census in 1900 in Canisteo, Steuben, NY. Mary Ann Dailey, daughter of Edward Dailey and Charlotte Unknown, was born in September 1852 in New York. She appeared in the census in 1920 at Albertus Ave. in Ellery Center, Chatauqua, NY. She died on 7 March 1929 at the age of 76 at Kenyon Hotel in Westfield, NY. Mary was buried on 10 March 1929 at Bemus Point Cemetery in Ellery Center, Chatauqua, NY. Buried in Lot 224 G-3. She was a member at the Bemus Point Methodist Episcopal Church in Bemus Point, Chatauqua, NY.

Mary Vibelia Skillman was born on 23 July 1889 in New York. In March 1929 she was a teacher in Westfield, Chatauqua, NY. She lived in Westfield, Chatauqua, NY before 11 July 1979. Skillman, 89, of 70 Elm St., Westfield, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday (July 11, 1979) in Stepping Stones Home in Westfield. She was born July 23, 1889, in Elba, the daughter of the Rev. Sylvester Skillman, a Methodist minister, and Mary Daley Skillman. She attended Miami University where she majored in Latin and received her masters degree at Syracuse University. She had taught Latin for 40 years at Westfield Academy and Central School where she was also senior advisor. She was a member of Westfield First United Methodist Church; Order of Eastern Star; and Retired Teachers of Western New York. Surviving are three nieces, Helen Carpenter of Westfield, Mrs. Ralph Turner of Syracuse, and Eleanor Costello of Boston, Mass; and two nephews, Lawrence Skillman of California, and David Skillman of Rochester. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Barber Funeral Home, Westfield. The Rev. David P. Lubba will officiate. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. She was buried at Bemus Point Cemetery in Ellery Center, Chatauqua, NY.
