190. Thomas Skillman was born on 10 February 1756 in Rocky Hill, Montgomery Twp., Somerset, NJ. He served in the military about 1776 in Revolutionary War. Enlisted in Somerset Co. (N.J.) Militia in Capt. Conrad Ten Eyck's Co. 2nd. Battalion. He lived in Somerset Co., NJ on 23 January 1777. Thomas died in 1796 at the age of 40. His SOA Number is 38. From SOA:
"The home of Thomas and family was near Rocky Hill and remains in the household today."

Today, the house and 17 acres is known as Trevenna Farms. It was originally built in 1727-1737 on 900 acres by Jacob Ten Broeck for his two sons Johannes and Wessel. Thomas purchased it in 1795 and it remained in the family until about 1945.


Thomas Skillman and Elizabeth Stryker were married on 23 January 1777 in Somerset, NJ. Elizabeth Stryker, daughter of Hendrick Stryker and Catharine Hegeman, was born in February 1759 in Rocky Hill, Montgomery Twp., Somerset, NJ. She died before 1859 at the age of 100.
