1874. George Eldridge Skillman Sr. was born on 18 April 1846 in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer, NY. In 1900 he was a proprietor of a plumbing store in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer, NY. He was elected as Mayor about 1907 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY. George was living in 1910 at 638 3rd Ave. in Troy, Rensselaer, NY. George E. Skillman, last president of the village of Lansingburgh, died last evening at his home, 638 Third Avenue, Lansingburgh, after a short illness. Born in Lansingburgh, 87 years ago, Mr. Skillman has always resided in that section.

Mr. Skillman served two terms as President and was elected first in March, 1896. He was reelected in March, 1898, and served until December 31, 1900, at which time the village became part of the city of Troy.

Widely known in Masonic circles. Mr. Skillman was a veteran member of the Phoenix Lodge, F. and A.M.., and Phoenix Chapter R.A.M., having been affiliated with both bodies for more than 50 years. He was a member of the St. Mark's Methodist Church.

For some time Mr. Skillman was a member of the firm Bolton & Skillman, cracker manufacturers. Later that concern sold out to the National Biscuit Company. He had also been a member of the Fake Hook and Ladder Company.

Survivors include a son, former supervisor Edward B. Skillman, and a granddaughter, Miss Claribel B. Skillman. Funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Sec. D, Lot 176, Grave 11 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY.

George Eldridge Skillman Sr. and Clara M. Baillie were married on 26 April 1877 in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer, NY. They appeared in the census in 1900 at 638 3rd Ave., in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer, NY. They appeared in the census in 1910 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY. George and Clara appeared in the census in 1920 at 638 3rd Ave. in Troy, Rensselaer, NY. Clara M. Baillie, daughter of Alexander Baillie and Susan Unknown, was born in January 1854 in Massachusetts. She died about 1924 at the age of 70. She was also known as Clara M. Baillie?. Clara was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Sec. D, Lot 176, Grave 8 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY. Her parents were born in England according to the 1910 US Census.
