577. William Johnson Skillman was born on 9 February 1802 in Kingston, Somerset, NJ. In 1825 he was a Brush manufacturer in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer, NY. In 1850 he was a teamster in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer, NY. William died about 1878 at the age of 76. His SOA Number is 140. He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Sec. D, Lot 176, grave 2 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY.

William Johnson Skillman and Catharine Wickmire were married in 1826. They appeared in the census in 1850 in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer, NY. Catharine Wickmire was born on 15 September 1801 in New York. She died about 1877 at the age of 76. She was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Sec. D, Lot 176, Grave 1 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY.

William H. Skillman was born on 22 October 1829. In 1850 he was a brush maker in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer, NY. He died on 25 March 1902 at the age of 72 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY. William H. Skillman, one of the oldest residents of Upper Troy, died last evening at his home 640 Third Avenue., Mr. Skillman was stricken with apoplexy bout ten years ago and never fully recovered. The deceased was a lifelong resident of this city, where he had made many friends, who held him in high esteem. He was a brush maker, but on account of his health was unable to work for many years. He was a member of Phoenix Lodge, F. and A.M. and Phoenix Chapter, R.A.M. The deceased is survived by three brothers, Edward A., Charles E., and George E. Skillman, and two sisters, Eleanor C. and Frances A. Skillman. The funeral will take place from the residence at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The Rev. J. Clark Simmons of the First Methodist Church will be the officiating clergyman, and the services will be in charge of Phoenix Lodge, F. and A.M. William was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Sec. Prominent Resident of Lansingsburgh Dead - a Mason more Than Fifty Years - Obituary Notes.

Edward A. Skillman one of the oldest and most prominent residents of the old village of Lansingsburgh, died this morning at his residence 640 Third Avenue. He had been in ill health for several months and death was due to a general breaking down. Mr. Skillman was seventy-six years of age and had spent all his life in Lansingburgh. He was a brush maker by trade. For many years he was employed at the factory of E. & C. Wood, and for several years was a foreman. He retired from active work several years ago.

As a Mason -

He was probably best known as a Mason, being one of the most prominent of that fraternity in Lansingsburgh, He was a member of the Phoenix Lodge, F. and A.M. and was a Master in 1870, 1871, 1879 and 1880. He was also Grand High Priest, of Phoenix Chapter, R.A.M., from 1873 to 1876, inclusive. Mr. Skillman was also a member of Bloss Counsel, R. and S.M.; Apollo Commandery, K.T. and the Masonic Veteran Association. Mr. Skillman was charter member of the last named organization and was its first Grand Marshal. In January of the year Mr. Skillman completed fifty years of membership in Phoenix Lodge, and the Mason of Lansingburgh celebrated the event and honored Mr. Skillman by presenting him a handsome jewel. He was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Mr.Skillman always lived in the house in which he died. The survivors are his sister Miss Frances Skillman; a brother, George E. Skillman, and two nephews, Edward B. Skillman and George E. Skillman, Jr., The funeral arrangements have not been completed He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Sec. D, Lot 176, Grave 6 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY.

Charles Emmett Skillman was born on 25 January 1842. He died on 30 May 1902 at the age of 60. He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Sec. D, Lot 176, Grave 4 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY.
