3354. Henrietta Skillman "Hettie, Hetty" Holcombe was born on 12 June 1850 in Pennington, Mercer, NJ. LDS IGI has b. 12 jul 1850. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Manhattan, New York, NY. She appeared in the census in 1920 in North Haledon Borough, Passaic, NJ. Hettie, Hetty died on 2 June 1945 at the age of 94 in Los Angeles Co., CA.

She lived with her son David Clarence before 1910 until her death in 1945.

Henrietta Skillman "Hettie, Hetty" Holcombe and Gideon Bateman Burd were married on 29 November 1871 at Presbyterian Church in Pennington, Mercer, NJ. They were married by Rev. Daniel R. Foster. Gideon Bateman Burd, son of David Bateman Burd and Mary Elizabeth Baldwin, was born on 7 November 1851. He was living in 1900 in Hopewell, Mercer, NJ. He died on 17 June 1922 at the age of 70. Gideon was buried at Harbourton Baptist Cemetery in Harbourton, Mercer, NJ. He was a farmer and ticket agent in Marshalls Corner, Mercer, NJ. Gideon Burd was a farmer in Marshall's Corner (the house was on the point where Hiohela is now and later was moved across the street where the house still stands). He also was the ticket agent for the railroad line through Marshall's Corner (on the old "corkscrew" line). Later he was the ticket agent at Glenmore Station. Gideon's three children went to school in Marshall's Corner.

Gideon lived with his son, Charles, while Charles, Jr. remembers.

Charles, Jr. also remembers that when he was very young, every afternoon Gideon (his grandfather) would hook up the 4 wheel covered buggy and take Charles, Jr. and Gideon's collie to round up the cows (in the meadow where Valley Picnic Grounds are now). Charles, Jr. remembers that he could hardly manage to take the rails down for his grandfather to go through the gate, they were heavy for someone so young. He also remembers his grandfather would always take Carrie (Charles, Jr's sister) with him when he went to visit Aunt Mandie in Marshall's Corner. They would often stop and visit Aunt Mame as well.
