Alberta Hoffecker "Bertie" Pordham, daughter of David Wesley Pordham and Lidie Hoffecker McCrone, was born on 21 May 1922 in Newport, New Castle, DE. She graduated in 1943. She died on 15 April 2005 at the age of 82 at Christiana Hospital in Christiana, DE. Alberta “Bertie” Hoffecker Pordham Skillman, of Middletown, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2005, at Christiana Hospital. She was 83.

Born in Newport on May 21, 1922, she was the daughter of the late David Wesley and Lidie Hoffecker McCrone Pordham. A graduate of Goldey College in 1943. She was a lifelong member and served as Clerk of Session for Forest Presbyterian Church in Middletown, on the board of directors for the Forest Presbyterian Cemetery, and as executive secretary and bookkeeper for The Lincoln Club of Delaware for more than 50 years. Alberta enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and traveling and loved baking, canning jellies and pickles, catering, and exhibiting in the local craft shows. Bertie will be sadly missed during Middletown's Peach Festival, Forest Church's Christmas Bazaar and Annual Homecoming Dinner.

Her husband, J. Frank Skillman, died in 1967. She is survived by her cousins, Elizabeth Bullen Whitlock and Brian Thompson, both of Florida, Georgia Nunley of Maryland, John H. McDowell, W. Eugene Bullen, Michael L. McDowell, James W. McDowell, Sr., Amy McDowell-Naughton, Mary Lou Reynolds and Janet Louise.

The funeral service was held at Forest Presbyterian Church on April 20. Interment was in Forest Cemetery, Middletown. Contributions may be made in Alberta's name to Forest Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 502, Middletown, DE 19709; or to M.O.T. Senior Center, 300 S. Scott St., Middletown, DE 19709. Bertie was buried on 20 April 2005 at Forest Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Middletown, DE. She had Social Security Number 221-12-6373.
