Seventh Generation

779. Oliver Perry Hutcheson was born on 15 December 1828. He died on 20 October 1900 at the age of 71. He was buried in Putnam, TX. [Marcus Merged 7.FTW]

1. This particular "branch" of the family changed the spelling of their name while living in Putnam, TX. It seems there was another Hutcheson family there and they were always getting their mail mixed up.

2. He was the sixth son of William and Margaret Sigler Hutcheson. From Thomas T. Ewell's "A History of Hood County, Texas..." published by the Grandbury News, Grandbury, Texas in 1895, we find: "Among those who settled in the Acton neighborhood early in the fifties were James and Peter Plemons, G.W. and O.P.Hutchison, etc." Pg. 53: "Peter and James Plemons and O.P.Hutchison, son-in-law of the latter, during a part of the period prior to the War, lived on Squaw Creek. These seem to have all been men of good influence. O.P.Hutchison is now engaged in stock raising and farming in a Western Co., while his present wife who was better known in this community as the widow Randle, a lady of good influence and respected, manages her properties in Hood County. A number of her children are citizens of Hood and Somervell Counties." Pg. 83-85: "An account of an Indian raid during the Civil War. Mr. Rigman Bryant of Squaw Creek was out hunting alone when he was killed by the Indians. Men from the Robinson settlement found the body and sent word to the Squaw Creek neighbors. The next morning, O.P.Hutchison, Larkin Prestidge and others went out and got the body." - "Hutcheson Genealogy", Pg. 42.
