1. In the mid-1880's, Darius and Mary settled in Taylor County, Merkel, Texas, having come from East Tennessee. The D. C. Hutcheson family helped Rev. A. A. Baker to organize the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Merkel, Jan. 3, 1886. It is now (in 1966) called Grace Presbyterian Church. (This is from a newspaper clipping owned by Mrs. Arnold Dresser, Temple, their granddaughter.)

Darius Carrico "Dave" Hutcheson and Mary Jane Dean were married. Mary Jane Dean was born on 11 March 1844 in Cleveland, Bradley, TN. She lived in Bradley Co, TN in 1850. She lived in Denton Co, TX in 1880. Mary died on 22 March 1925 at the age of 81 in Merkel, TX.
