The Kentucky Leader At Rest Last night, at fifteen minutes to 11 o'clock, Mrs. M.P. Lancaster calmly and sweetly passed away. There was not a pang, not a struggle; her death seemed more like a quiet going to sleep in an atmosphere of solicitude and love, surrounded by all those whom she held most dear. She had lived out, almost to the last, man's allotted span of like, three score years and ten- years of active usefulness and noble Christian effort, and a loving Father took her gently to himself before the days of "labor and sorrow" should dawn upon her. She was born Anna Skillman, daughter of Mr. Abram T. Skillman, a prominent citizen of Lexington, and has always been eminently identified with the town, socially, philanthropically, religiously. She was always actively engaged in charitable works, and many there are who rise up and call her blessed, for the noble good that she has done them temporarily and spiritually, being thoroughly practical in everything she did for her fellow man. She was for many tears President of the Home of the Friendless in this city, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Orphan's Home, beside being conspicuously connected with several other benevolent institutions of the city. She has long been an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where her loss will be keenly felt. She leaves a husband, Mr. M.P. Lancaster, one of the most prominent merchants of the city, and two children, a son and daughter, to cherish her memory. Her children are Mrs. J. Hull Davidson, at whose home at the Phoenix Hotel she died, and Mr. Abe Lancaster. She had been drooping in health for a year, watched over by the loving care of her devoted daughter. Mrs. Dr. John W. Scott, her half sister, was with her also when she died. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at half-past tow o'clock from the First Presbyterian Church, Dr. Bartlett officiating. Mrs. Lancaster was in her seventieth year.
