5590. Charles Arthur Bacon was born on 31 January 1897 in Fountain Co., IN. He died on 7 December 1987 at the age of 90 in Fountain Co., IN. Charles A. Bacon, 90, Route 1, Kingman, died Monday, December 7, 1987, in his home. He was born January 31, 1897, at Silver Island in Fountain County, the son of Joe and Grace Harrington Bacon. He was married December 15, 1924, at Danville, Illinois, to Cora V. Baum, who survives.
He had been a farmer and worked on the old Cloverleaf Railroad and for Foley's New and Used Cars at Sterling.
Surviving, besides his wife, are three sons, Richard A., Hillsboro, and James R. and Joe P., both of Route 1, Kingman; two daughters, Kathleen Hansard, Belle Plain, Kansas, and Eileen Arndt, Lebanon; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and a half sister.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with the Rev. Debbie Powell officiating. Burial was in Coal Creek Cemetery." –Star Tribune, December 11, 1987

Charles Arthur Bacon and Cora V. Baum were married on 15 December 1924 in Danville, IL. Cora V. Baum, daughter of James O. Baum and Bertha May Reed, was born on 11 May 1906 in Frankfort, Clinton Co., IN. She died on 27 October 1998 at the age of 92 at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital in Williamsport, IN. Cora V. Bacon, 92, Kingman, died at 10 a.m. Oct. 27, 1998 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. Born May 11, 1906 in Frankfort, she was the daughter of James O. and Bertha May Reed Baum. She married Charles A. Bacon Dec. 15, 1924 in Danville, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Survivors include: sons, James R. and Joe P. Bacon, both of Kingman; step-daughters, Kathleen Hansard, Belle Plain, Kan., Eileen Arndt, Lebanon; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter and a son.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today (Friday) in Coal Creek Cemetery, Covington, with the Rev. Rick Sauer officiating. There will be no visitation. Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the Yeddo Baptist Church." – Fountain County Neighbor, October 30, 1998
