Willis Bungard Dies At Age of 47

Willis Platt Bungard. age 47, died Tuesday afternoon at the Veterans' hospital, Fort Wayne, where he had been a patient only three days. He had been in failing health since his release from a German prisoner of war camp at the conclusion of World War II in Europe.
Bungard, a lifelong resident of the community, was born in Butler on November 18, 1915, the son of the late Oliver and Mrs. Effie Hodge Bungard.
He was married to Ava Palmerton at Auburn on November 18, 1938. They have resided at 421 North Pearl street for the past 22 years. He is survived by the widow, mother of eight children; Mrs. Carol Sweet, Waterloo; Raymond, Jerry Dianne Sara, Randy, Julie, and Charles. Also three brothers: Oliver W. of Butler; James of Oxnard Calif.: Lynn of Elyria, Ohio and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Spangler of Ellicott City, Maryland and Mrs. Laura Tompkins of Grass Lake. Mich. Also ONE grandson.
He was a member of the Church of Christ of Butler, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Butler fire department.
Services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Church of Christ, with the pastor Bro. Ronald. Fox, officiating. Burial will follow in Butler cemetery.
Friends may call at the Johnson funeral home from 4:00 P.M. Wednesday until 12 noon Friday, when the remains will be removed to the church. He was buried on 10 May 1963 at Butler Cemetery in Butler, De Kalb, IN. Willis was a member at Church of Christ of Butler in Butler Co., OH.
