Effie M. Bungard, 87 died Thursday in the Arbor Manor Care Center, Spring Arbor, Michigan; where she had been a resident of Butler prior to that.
She was born February 27, 1892 to Platt and Laura (Baugh) Hodge. On June 27, 1913, she married Oliver Bungard who preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters,Mrs. Laura Tompkins, Jackson Michigan; and Mrs Bessie Spangler, Ellicott City, Maryland; three sons Samuel L., Ohio, Oliver W., Fort Wayne and James R., California; one sister, Nellie Henry, Winamac, Indiana; 27 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Services were Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Butler. Rev David Beard of the Butler Church of Christ presided. She had been a member of that church. Burial was in the Butler Cemetery. She was buried at Butler Cemetery in Butler, De Kalb, IN.

Effie Madge Hodge and Oliver Newton Bungard were married on 27 June 1913 in Rochester, IN. Oliver Newton Bungard was born on 2 July 1886. He died on 16 September 1958 at the age of 72. Dies of Heart Attack while Driving Car
Funeral services for Oliver N.Bungard, Sr., 72, who died suddenly Tuesday afternoon, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Butler Church of Christ, with the pastor Jack Fawley, officiating. Burial will be made in the Butler Cemetery.
Mr. Bungard died at approximately 3:45 p.m. while at the steering wheel of his automobile. He had gone to the school and picked up his granddaughter and was enroute home on Eastern Ave. He apparently suffered a heart attack on Cherry street and stopped his car when he became ill. He died immediately.
The body was taken to the Johnson funeral home where friends may call from Thursday morning until Friday noon, when the body will be taken to the church.
Mr. Bungard was born in Defiance county, Ohio, July 2, 1886. He was married on June 28, 1918 to Effie Madge Hodge at Rochester, Ind. They had made their home in Butler since that time.
He was employed in the wood room at the Butler company for a number of years, as a sheet metal worker for the late Seth Aldrich, and on the Butler street department. He was retired from the Butler fire department several years ago after having served on the department for 26 years.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Odd Fellows lodge.
Surviving are the widow, Effie; four sons, Willis and Oliver W. Bungard of Butler; Lynn Bungard Elyria,Ohio and James Bungard, Oxnard, California; two daughters, Mrs Laura Tompkins, Grass Lake, Michigan and Mrs. Bessie Spangler, Baltimore,Maryland; a brother, Samuel A. Bungard, Butte, Montana; a sister,Mrs. Roy Warner, Sparta Mich. And 16 grandchildren.

Francis Paul Bungard was born on 19 August 1919 in Butler, De Kalb, IN. He died at home from burns received from a burning comb which he had shoved through the door of the kitchen range on 26 November 1920 at the age of 1. Francis Bungard, 15 months old son of Mr. And Mrs Oliver Bungard, died Friday morning as a result of burns received from a burning comb which he had shoved through the door of ther kitchen range. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

Baby Francis Bungard, son of Mr. And Mrs O, N. Bungard was born August 19, 1919. His spirit was recalled to God who gave it November 26, 1920.
He leaves to mourn his departure, father, mother, one sister, two brothers, grand parents and other relatives and friends. Blessed in the spiritual purity.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church, Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev E. P.Couch officiating. Internment in Butler cemetery. He was buried at Butler Cemetery in Butler, De Kalb, IN.

George Henry, infant son of Oliver and Effie Bungard was born in Butler, Ind., October 5, 1921, died January 30, 1922 aged 3 months and 25 days.
He is survived by father,mother, sister Laura, two brothers, Willis and Lynn, grandparents and many relatives. One little brother, Francis preceded him in death about one year ago.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church Thursday at 2 o’clock, conducted by pastor, E.P. Couch.

He was buried at Butler Cemetery in Butler, De Kalb, IN.
