425. Elias Scudder Skillman Sr. was born on 28 February 1793 in Kingston, Somerset, NJ. SOA has birthdate 1798, but chronology there puts date at 1793.

Some information is from "Family Record" which lists all but the last child. Between 1850 and 1870 he was a farmer in Union, Broome, NY. He died on 17 February 1878 at the age of 84. Find-a-Grave has death year 1876, but the year is difficult to read on the stone. Elias was buried at Riverside Cemetery in Endicott, Broome, NY. His SOA Number is 130. From SOA:
...with the family removed, 1805, to Union, N. Y. (Susquehanna Valley). Next year returned to Kingston relatives and went to school four years, returning at 17. Was named for Elias (second son of Lemuel Scudder and wife, Margaret Longstreet of Princeton brother of writer's maternal grandfather).

Elias Scudder Skillman Sr. and Barbara Mersereau were married on 6 November 1817. They appeared in the census in 1850 in Broome, Union, NY. Barbara Mersereau, daughter of Joshua Mersereau and Barbara Van Pelt, was born on 29 August 1795 in New York. She died on 7 March 1851 at the age of 55. She was buried at Riverside Cemetery in Endicott, Broome, NY.

Elias Scudder Skillman Sr. and Maria Elizabeth Rood were married on 9 December 1855. They appeared in the census in 1870 in Union, Broome, NY. Maria Elizabeth Rood was born on 2 August 1807. She died on 17 September 1886 at the age of 79. She was buried at Riverside Cemetery in Endicott, Broome, NY.
