6224. Paul Richard Skillman was born on 16 August 1915 in Chester, Delaware, PA. From 1937 to 1941 he was a R & D production of synthetic rubber at UGI Corp., United Engineers. He received a B. S. in Chemistry degree in 1937 at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. From 1941 to 1945 Paul was a chief operating engineer at Blaw Knox. From 1946 to 1978 he was at Blaw Knox Chemical Plants Division, then Dravo. He lived in Deland, Volusia, FL on 18 June 1995. Paul died on 25 December 2005 at the age of 90 in Gaylordsville, Litchfield, CT.

Paul Skillman, 90, of Gaylordsville, Conn., died Christmas Day 2005 in Kent, Conn., after a short illness. Born in Chester, on Aug. 16, 1915, he was a son of the late Gordon L. and Evangeline Watson Skillman. Paul graduated from Chester (Pa.) High School in 1933 and graduated from Dickinson College in 1937 with a degree in chemistry. He completed graduate work at the Brown Instrument Company School in Philadelphia and at the University of Pennsylvania Extension School in Philadelphia. From 1937 to 1941, he worked for UGI Corporation, United Engineers, where he performed research and development for the production of synthetic rubber. These efforts led to the building of commercial synthetic rubber plants. Paul then proceeded as production supervisor in charge of the high-pressure portion of the synthetic rubber production process. From 1941 to 1945, he was the chief operating engineer for Blaw Knox, responsible for overall field operations of Blaw Knox -built synthetic rubber and co-polymer plants. These plants provided most of the synthetic rubber produced in the United States during World War II. From 1946 through 1978, Paul had a varied and distinguished career for multiple clients for the Blaw Knox Chemical Plants Division, then Dravo, retiring from Dravo Chemical Plants Division in 1978. In those years, he worked for both domestic and foreign clients throughout the United States, Canada and South America. He and Audrey moved to Sudbury, Ontario, to build the International Nickel Refinery in Copper Cliff, and moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil, to build the Soybean Complex for Continental Grain.Paul earned Patent No. 2,649,318 for his design of a pressure lubrication system. In his approximately 30 years of residence in and around New Kensington, Paul was active in the First Presbyterian Church and in the F&AM Tyrian Lodge 644. Following retirement from Dravo, Paul and Audrey moved to Deland, Fla., where for years he was active in the Gem and Mineral Club of Deland, the Audubon Society and the Conservancy for Wildlife at Lake Woodruff, a National Wildlife Refuge. Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, Audrey Horton Skillman; two daughters, Rebecca Sterley of Indiana, Pa., and Priscilla Meier and husband Charles W., of Gaylordsville, Conn.; one son, Gordon R. Skillman and wife Jill, of Hershey; and two grandsons,Paul W. Skillman and Bruce W. Paul Richard Skillman and Audrey Horton were married in 1942. Audrey Horton, daughter of Frank Herbert Horton and Estella Hawk, was born on 12 September 1918 in New Kensington, PA. She died on 8 March 2014 at the age of 95 in Oro Valley, AZ.
