Douglas Benjamin Skillman and Jean Frances Fisher were married on 19 July 1942 at Takoma Park Baptist Church, at 3 o'clock, Dr. H.L. Fendrich / Wm. E. LaRue in Takoma Park, Washington, DC. Lieut, Skillman and Bride Now at Army Post -

Lieut and Mrs. Douglas B. Skillman are making their home temporarily at an Eastern Army post following their recent marriage here. The bride, who was Miss Jean Frances Fisher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence M. Fisher, plans to return to her home here when Lieutenant Skillman receives his overseas orders. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward G. Skillman, of Trenton, New Jersey.

Their marriage took place at the Takoma Park Baptist Church on Sunday. July 19, at 3 o'clock. Dr. H.L. Fendrich, assisted by the Rev. William E. LaRue, performed the ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride, wore a gown of white marquisette trimmed with chenille lace and finger-tip veil of illusion held with a cornet of seed pearls. She carried an a arm bouquet of white gladiolus tied with white satin ribbon.

Miss Florence Primm was the maid of honor, and other attendants were the bride's sister, Miss Dorothy L. Fisher, and Mrs. Kenneth LaVoy. Captain M.B. Roberts acted as best man and the ushers were Lieut. Louis J. Zupet and Lieut. Robert J. Sollengerger of Fort Belvoir, Va. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, in Takoma Park.

Before leaving for her wedding trip Mrs. Skillman presented her bridal bouquet to her 83-year old grandmother, Mrs. Douglas Miller. The bride will graduate in December from Pennsylvania State College where Lieutenant Skillman received his degree from the School of Mineral Industries. Jean Frances Fisher, daughter of Clarence M. Fisher, was born about 1922. She was living before 19 December 2003 in Falls Church, Fairfax, VA. She died on 19 December 2003 at the age of 81 in Falls Church, Fairfax, VA.
