7075. Norman Lester "Moe" Skillman was born on 3 June 1918 in Valley Springs, SD. He served in the military between 1942 and 1945 in U.S. Army. He was a bookkeeper at Fenn Brothers and Allen Llumber Co. in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, SD. Moe died on 14 July 2004 at the age of 86 at Hospice Cottage in Luverne, Rock, MN. Valley Springs - Norman L. Skillman, 86, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Luverne, MN Hospice Cottage. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 17, at Grace Bible Church in Valley Springs. Visitation will begin 10:00 AM Friday at George Boom Funeral Home, with the family present from 7:00-8:00 PM.

Norman Lester Skillman, son of Merrit and Inga (Running) Skillman, was born June 3, 1918, at Valley Springs, SD. He grew up there and graduated from Valley Springs High School in 1936. He entered the US. Army during WWII, where he served from 1942-1945.

Norman was united in marriage with Harriet Carlson on July 9, 1944 at Valley Springs, SD. He worked for Fenn Brothers in Sioux Falls, and Allen Lumber Co. as a bookkeeper for 25 years. He then worked for A.Y. McDonald's as a salesman for 10 years. He served as city Treasurer for Valley Springs from 1956-1966.

He was a member of Grace Bible Church, and a life member of the Valley Springs American Legion Post #131.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 60 years, Harriet Skillman, Valley Springs, SD; two daughters, Lynnette Olson, Sioux Falls, SD, Wendy Hanson and her fiancé, Jeff Powell, Sioux Falls, SD; a son, Terry Skillman and his wife, Cindy, Rapid City, SD; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, James "Bob" Skillman and his wife, Helen, Galesburg, IL, Shirley "Shink" Skillman, Galesburg, IL; a sister, Betty Gilbertson, Redfield, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Cameron; his parents; five brothers; and one sister.
