Mr. Skillman was born August 6, 1943, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Burtis Franklin and Maxine Marie (Miller) Skillman. He moved to North Kansas City as a child in 1958 with his family. He attended North Kansas City High School and was employed by various companies in the area.

He was preceded in death by his father and infant son. He is survived by two sons; Robert “Todd” Skillman and Christopher “Travis” Skillman, both of Richmond; a daughter, Shella Kay Manning, Columbia; seven grandchildren; his mother, Maxine M. Skillman, North Kansas City; three brothers, Joseph Lee Skillman, Nevada, and Raymond Franklin Skillman and William Clay Skillman, both of North Kansas City; an uncle Henry Miller, St. George, Kansas; and an aunt Genevieve Busse, Holly Hills, Florida; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was buried at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Gladstone, MO. John had Social Security Number 500-44-7388 MO.
