Elizabeth Skillman Hunt, who served as administrative secretary to Alben W. Barkley, former U.S. senator from Kentucky and vice president of the United States, died Friday at her home. She was 75.
Miss Hunt was born and raised in Lexington but lived in Washington, D.C., for more than 40 years.
After working for Barkley, she became one of the first seven employees at the National Science Foundation and worked there until her retirement in 1977. She was given a special award for her distinguished service at the foundation. She was also board president for two years at the Columbia Hospital for Women in Washington D.C.
She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Second Presbyterian Church. Visitation will follow services at the church. W.R. Milward Mortuary -- Broadway is in charge of arrangements.
