5988. Dr. Stephen Francis "Frank" Voorhees was born on 15 February 1878 in Rocky Hill, Montgomery Twp., Somerset, NJ. He served in the military in 1898 in Spanish-American War. First Reg. of the U.S. Volunteers. Was a corporal and a cook while stationed in Puerto Rico. He received a civil engineer (B.S.) degree in 1900 at Princeton Univ. in Princeton, Mercer, NJ. Honorary Doctorates from Princeton, 1937, New York Univ, 1939 and Rensselaer Poly, 1939. Frank served in the military in 1918 in U.S. Army. Major, Office of the Surgeon General, in charge of the design of Army hospitals. He died on 23 January 1965 at the age of 86 at New York Hospital in New York. He was an Architect. Frank was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Clarkstown, Rockland, NY. Picture hangs in Princeton Library. Fellow, Amer. Inst. of Architects, Life member of Am. Dr. Stephen Francis "Frank" Voorhees and Mabel Alida "May" Buys were married on 15 October 1907 in Brooklyn, Kings, NY. Mabel Alida "May" Buys, daughter of Cornelis Buys and Sarah Vail Webb, was born on 15 February 1880 in Brooklyn, Kings, NY. She died on 25 March 1958 at the age of 78.
