Robert W. "Bob" Skillman, 72, of Sandusky died Monday afternoon, Jan. 3, 2011, in Erie County Care Facility following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 29, 1938, in Sandusky and was a 1957 graduate of Sandusky High School. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a 38-year employee of Stowe-Woodard Co., Sandusky, retiring in 2000. Prior to this, he worked at the former Barr Rubber Company. Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where he served as an usher, on the church council and alter guild, and was a former Cub Scout leader. He was also a member of the Erie County Conservation League and Commodore Denig Post 83, American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Linda S. Cole; daughter, Emily Crawford of Sandusky; son, David (Lisa) Skillman of Vermilion; five grandsons, Zechariah Crawford, Matthew Crawford, Samuel Skillman, Dylan Skillman and Tyler Skillman; brother, Ronald (Magalene) Skillman of Sandusky; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George C. and Florence M. (Patton) Skillman; and one nephew.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. Friday until funeral service at 3 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery Chapel, 2917 Milan Road, Sandusky. The Rev. Gary R. Ulrich will officiate. Committal services for the family will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
