George Edward Skillman, Sr., 69, of Ridgeville, husband of Polly J. (Cummings) Skillman, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013 at his residence.
Friends and family may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11 o’clock AM at James A. Dyal Funeral Home.

George was born on January 8, 1944 in St. Marys, PA son of the late Elwood Skillman and Elisabeth “Betty” (Bell) Skillman. He retired from the United States Navy as a First Class Petty Officer. He also worked at Charleston Naval Shipyard until it closed. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his very best friend and devoted wife of 50 years, Polly are: One Son: George E. Skillman, Jr. (Cindy) of Ridgeville, SC; Three Daughters: Mary B. Cecil (Benny) of Ridgeville, SC, Shelly T. Reb of Ridgeville, SC and Brenda L. Shuman (Richie) of St. George, SC; Two Brothers: Dave Skillman of Ridgeville, SC and Jack Skillman of Arcadia, PA; One Sister: Shirly Skillman of Fredricksburg, VA; Six Grandchildren: Ben Cecil (Tracy) of Bonneau, SC, Polly Skillman of Ridgeville, SC, Christine Hoitt (Ricky) of Walterboro, SC, Savanna Shuman of Jedburg, SC and Tyler & Katlyn Austin of Ridgeville, SC; Four Great Grandchildren: Archie, Madison, Ian & Riddick.
