Clayton “Bud” Skillman of Echo died near his home on September 3, 2012. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 7,2012, at Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop. Clayton was born June 13, 1931 to Clayton and Elva (Porter) Skillman in Livingston, Montana.
Clayton moved to Pendleton in 1948. He graduated from Pilot Rock High School in 1950. In October 1950 he married Elsie “Margaret”Porter at the Pilot Rock Community Church. In 1966 they moved to their ranch in Echo, Oregon. Clayton was a farmer and a good carpenter. He enjoyed his cows and the ranching lifestyle.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons Nick Skillman (Janet) of Pendleton, Ore., and Brian Skillman (Annette) of Echo,Ore.; brother David Skillman of Missoula, Mont.; grandsons Justin Skillman (Marty) and Duane Skillman, both of Echo, Ore., and Clayton“Buster” Skillman of Pendleton, Ore.; granddaughter Victoria Skillman of Pendleton, Ore.; and great-granddaughters Tylene Skillman and Cheyenne Skillman, both of Echo, Ore.

According to news reports, a fatal pedestrian-train accident in Echo, OR on September 3, 2012 left 81-year old Bud Skillman dead. Police said that Skillman was struck along Cunningham Road, near Rieth Road, by a passing Union Pacific Railroad train. The accident happened at about 12:30 p.m.
The specific cause of the accident was unknown, but news reports said that Skillman lived near the railroad tracks. He was killed immediately in the accident, though authorities were expected to investigate Skillman’s death further.
