757. Sarah Gutherie McLaughlin was born on 25 May 1825 in Jackson Co., AL. She emigrated in 1851 from Near Gilmer, Upshur Co., TX (Pritchett-Big Sandy). She died on 19 August 1920 at the age of 95 at Pinnacle Community in Upshur Co., TX. Sarah was buried at New Hope Cemetery in Big Sandy, Upshur Co., TX.

George Washington Stanley was born on 18 May 1818 in Washington Co., AL. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Hempstead Co., AR. He died on 22 December 1885 at the age of 67 in Pritchett, Upshur Co., TX. George served in the military Civil War at Pension App #07676. He was buried at New Hope Cemetery in Big Sandy, Upshur Co., TX. Left Hempstead County, AR in 1851 and settled west of the Seymour Community south of Sulphur Springs in Hopkins County.
Family legend has it that the family left on the California Gold Rush, made it to Fort Smith and changed their mind. They turned south to settle near family members (McLaughlins) in East Texas.
Family legend is that G.W. Stanley rode on horseback from Pritchett to Austin to finalize his land deal (preemption headrights) that required the grantor to live on and improve the land for three years.
