5444. William Vernon "Jimmy" Skillman was born on 30 July 1908 in Leitchfield, Grayson, KY. The 1930 Census has his age at 29 so he was born about 1901. He died natural causes pending autopsy report. on 4 April 1959 at the age of 50 in Mt Gilead, NC. Death cert. has note that he "...either died while driving his car on Highways 27 and 73 and the car went out of control and became submerged in Lake Tillery or died after car entered lake.
Dr. Summerville of Charlotte has informed coroner he did not drown, although he and car were submerged in water. He was pulled out of the car and water within a few minutes of entering lake." He was a salesman. Jimmy was buried at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, Mecklenburg, NC.

William Vernon "Jimmy" Skillman and Goldie Unknown appeared in the census in 1930 at 1534 Dumesmil(sp?) St. in Louisville, Jefferson, KY. They were married. Goldie Unknown was born about 1901 in Kentucky.

William Vernon "Jimmy" Skillman and Amelia Louise Yurt were married on 7 August 1933 in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO. They lived at 2608 Portland Ave. in Charlotte, Mecklenburg, NC on 4 April 1959. Amelia Louise Yurt, daughter of Alois Yurt and Amelia F. Unknown, was born on 3 September 1907. She died on 15 December 1996 at the age of 89 in Jacksonville, Duval, FL. Announcement of Death and Memorial Service in Florida Times Union, 4/16/1997.
