He was born September 5, 1934 in Shelbyville, Indiana to the late John & Lucille (Benefiel) Skillman. Robert was Methodist by faith and last worked for Luckin construction in Neptune Beach and prior to that at M.E. Elkins construction. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and will be dearly missed by all. Robert was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Skillman and sisters, Marilyn Imel and Patricia Hutchinson. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Madelyn; sons, John Skillman of Yulee, Chuck Skillman (Nancy) of Jacksonville; daughter, Bobbi Sue Hendrix of Callahan; brothers, Steven Skillman (Vickie) of North Carolina, James Skillman of Shelbyville, Indiana; sisters, Mary Roy of Greenfield, Indiana, JoAnn Skillman of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Lane Carver, Jesse Hendrix, Casey Hendrix, Kayla Baker (Chris); great grandson, Lucas Solitro and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 6 from 6-8PM at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville. Interment with military honors will follow at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Florida Times-Union on May 4,2013 Red was a Methodist. He was buried at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Duval, FL. He will be buried with military honors.
