Vernette Faulkner, daughter of George Faulkner and Lorene Blackwood, was born on 28 February 1938. She died on 6 May 2012 at the age of 74 at at her home in Cleveland, Blount, AL. VERNETTE FAULKNER SKILLMAN,

74, died May 6, 2012, at the Cleveland residence. She was predeceased by parents George and Lorene Blackwood Faulkner and brother James Lynn Faulkner. Mrs. Skillman was a member of Haw Grove Baptist Church and had worked as a payroll clerk at Wrangler/VF. She was known for loving her family and church, gardening, and shopping for bargains.
Surviving are husband John David Skillman; son Greg (Teresa) Skillman; daughter Pam (Michael) Lauderdale; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and lifelong friend Etha Rene Vincent.
Joel Sims, Glen Elrod, and Arnold Hope officiated the May 9, 2 p.m. service at Mrs. Skillman’s church. Burial was at Mount Joy Cemetery with Bret Martin, Ferrell Walker, Joshua Marsh, Kevin Yates,Bryan Faulkner, and John Michael Lauderdale serving as pallbearers. Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home directed.
