Patricia Ann Herrington, daughter of Ned C. Herrington and Hazel Housman, was born on 20 June 1923 in Detroit, Wayne, MI. She lived in Coatesville, Hendricks, IN in January 2008. She died of breast cancer on 3 January 2008 at the age of 84 at the home of her daughter in Bloomington, Monroe, IN. Jan. 3, 2008

Patricia Ann Herrington Skillman died Jan. 3 in Bloomington. She was 84.

Born June 20, 1923, in Detroit, Mich., she was a daughter of the late Ned C. and Hazel Housman Herrington.

She graduated from Danville High School, Central Normal College, and Depauw University. She worked as a caseworker and then as director of the Hendricks County Welfare Department, until her retirement.

Mrs. Skillman also worked as a hostess with Danville Welcome Wagon, a teacher in Danville Public Schools, and her first job was in the sales training department for the Wm. H. Block Co.

Though she lived for short periods in Little Rock, Ark., South Bend, and St. Louis, Mo., she considered Danville her home. In her later years, she moved to Heritage Lake.

Mrs. Skillman was an active member and held several offices in a number of organizations including Tri Kappa, Philamatheon Club, bridge clubs and participated in and taught water aerobics for many years. She was a member of Canaan Church at Heritage Lake and a former member of Danville Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Rexford Skillman; a son, Scott Skillman of Newnan, Ga.; daughters and a son-in-law, Susy and Dick Meacham of Bloomington and Sally Skillman of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren Sean Skillman of Calais, Maine, and Ellie and Erin Meacham of Bloomington; and a special family friend, Nancy McGaughey of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Baker Funeral Home in Danville, with the Rev. John Roof officiating. Interment will follow at Danville South Cemetery.

Calling at the funeral home is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.

She was buried at Danville South Cemetery in Danville, IN. Patricia was a teacher at public schools in Danville, IL.
