Funeral services for Arthur F. Skillman, Sr., 50, one of the oldest active firemen in Alexandria, will be held at 2 p.m. today in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 216 S. Pitt street, Alexandria. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Alexandria.

A native of Alexandria, Mr. Skillman died Monday in Alexandria Hospital after a six-month illness. He started with the fire department at the age of 16, in the days of the horse-drawn engine. At the time of his death he was assistant chief operator at Tuck and Engine Company NO. 1, located next to his home, 311 Prince street, Alexandria.

In 1948 he was given a medal by the Russell Mitchell Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for saving two persons. He was a member of the Virginia State Firemen's Association and the Elks and Moose Lodges of Alexandria. He was a rear driver on a hook-and-ladder truck at the Alexandria Fire Department in Alexandria, Alexandria, VA.

Anna Elizabeth "Annie" Hellwege was born on 21 December 1900. She died in May 1975 at the age of 74 in Alexandria, Alexandria, VA. She had Social Security Number 159-18-6452 PA.
