1907. Rev. William Jones Skillman was born on 19 April 1835 in Ten Mile Run, Somerset, NJ. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Franklin Twp., Somerset, NJ. In 1850 he was a farmer in Franklin Twp., Somerset, NJ. William graduated in 1860 at Rutgers College in New Brunswick, Middlesex, NJ. From 1863 to 1868 he was a pastor of Reformed Church in Macon, Lenawee, MI. He also served part of the time the Congregational (afterwards Presbterian) church of Raisin. He graduated in 1863 at Theol. Seminary of Dutch Ref. Church in New Brunswick, Middlesex, NJ. From 1868 to 1872 William was a pastor of Reformed church in South Bend, St. Joseph, IN. From 1872 to 1883 he was a pastor of the First Reformed church of Bethlehem in Albany, Albany, NY. From 1883 to June 1894 he was a pastor of Presbyterian church in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, SD. He also served for nearly two years alternately the Presbyterian churches of Dell Rapids and Flandreau; was acting professor of Greek and English literature in the Northwestern academy at Orange City, Iowa, for a few months; and in the opening of 1886 took full charge of the First Reformed church of Sioux Falls, where he remained until in June, 1894, when he removed to Philadelphia, having accepted the pastorate over a large congregation at that city. His publications include published by in New York between 1906 and 1908. The Skillmans of America and Their Kin, published in 12 consecutive quarterly issues of the N.Y. Genealogical & Biographical Record from 1906-1908. William appeared in the census in 1910 in El Cajon, San Diego, CA. He died on 23 February 1914 at the age of 78 in Corona, Queens, NY. He was an Editor of the Sioux Falls Journal in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, SD. His SOA Number is 143 iii. William was buried at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala-Cynwyd, Montgomery, PA. In a letter to J. Earle Skillman, Newark, N.J., dated 10/22/1907, he gives his children as Willett R., Lionel C., Ernest D., Arthur D., and Mary.

Rev. William Jones Skillman and Susan Eleanor "Susie" Gilliland were married on 4 June 1863 at Reformed Dutch Church of Harlem in Harlem, New York City, NY. They were married by Rev. Jeremiah. S. Lord, Pastor. They appeared in the census in 1870 in South Bend, St. Joseph, IN. They appeared in the census in 1900 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA. Susan Eleanor "Susie" Gilliland, daughter of Hartshorne Willett Gilliland and Ann Brown, was born on 23 August 1841 in New York, Kings, NY. She died Acute Cardiac Dilatation; myocarditis. on 26 January 1908 at the age of 66 at 462 Lycenum Avenue, 21st ward in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA. She was buried on 27 January 1908 at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala-Cynwyd, Montgomery, PA. Susie was a teacher and vice-principal at a public school in New Brunswick, Middlesex, NJ.

Herbert Skillman was born on 5 May 1869 in South Bend, St. Joseph, IN. He died on 11 June 1876 at the age of 7. Not sure of the last digit of the year of death.

Anna Francesca Skillman was born on 5 June 1873 in Bethlehem, NY. Find-a-Grave's picture shows clearly she was born in 1872. She died tuberculosis on 27 April 1895 at the age of 21 in Foxboro, NY. She was buried at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala-Cynwyd, Montgomery, PA. She is on her parent's stone as "Their youngest daughter." But their daughter Edith was born in 1879, 7 years later!
