John appeared in the census in 1880 in Jefferson, Hillsdale, MI. In 1889 he was a blacksmith in Jefferson, Hillsdale, MI. He died on 7 November 1904 at the age of 72 at Quincy Veterans Home in Quincy, Adams, IL. John was buried at Sunset Cemetery, Quincy Veterans Home burial Ground in Quincy, Adams, IL. John Benjamin Skillman and Josephine Mattox were divorced about 1877. They were married. Josephine Mattox, daughter of Lewis Mattox and Hannah McKnight, was born on 13 April 1848 in Mercer Co., PA. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Saginaw, Saginaw, MI. In 1880 she is living with two sons, Warren and Frank, and working in the Quinn household. She died on 27 September 1910 at the age of 62 in Saginaw, Saginaw, MI. Josephine was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Saginaw, Saginaw, MI.
