In the 1880 census they were boarders in Moorman House. Elizabeth J. "Betty" Brashear, daughter of Samuel S. Brashear and Sarah Jane Avit, was born on 11 November 1838. She died on 9 February 1893 at the age of 54.

James Taylor Skillman and Emma Hardin were married about 1898 in Kentucky. They appeared in the census in 1900 in Cloverport, Breckinridge, KY. The 1900 Census lists her birth date as May 1864. Emma Hardin, daughter of Virgil Hardin and Hannah Richardson, was born on 31 July 1872 in Meade, KY. Find-a-Grave stone picture shows clearly born 1868. She died hypostatic pneumonia on 2 June 1917 at the age of 44 at St. Joseph's Infirmary in Louisville, Jefferson, KY. Contributory cause of death was spontaneous fracture of the thigh 4 mos and 6 days before death. She was buried at Cloverport Cemetery in Cloverport, Breckinridge, KY.
