WARRENTON - Mrs. Lula Hunter Skillman, originally from Arcola, died Tuesday, December 31, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, after living 104 years as a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Mrs. Skillman spent a great deal of time during her adult life nursing family members and helping others in need. Even after moving to the Methodist Retirement Home in Durham, she was a daily friend and helper to numbers of people, including those in the nursing unit.

Mrs. Skillman was a longtime member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Arcola, where her funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2003, by the Rev. Steve Mullenix and her nephew-in-law, the Rev. Fred Roberts.

The family will receive friends from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church or to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are being handled by Blaylock Funeral Home.
