She died of arteriosclerosis on 4 September 1913 at the age of 89 in Lexington, Fayette, KY. She "died at the residence of her son, Mr. Henry Martyn Skillman at 108 North Broadway at 12:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, aged 90 years....As Miss Scott she was one of the most beautiful women in Lexington and was greatly admired by her beauty and charm of manner."
