"Jo" Skillman, 88 of Holden, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 , at her residence. Josephine was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Utica, N.Y. She married Jack Earl Skillman Aug. 14, 1943, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Following her husband's discharge from the Army, the couple moved to Omaha. In 1955, they moved to California, where she was an apartment complex manager for several years. Josephine moved to Missouri in 1985. Survivors include her daughter, JoAnn Trunnels and her husband, Ted of Holden; a son, Jack Skillman, of Lomita, California; a sister, Jessie Humphrey of Omaha, Neb.; nine grandchildren: Kimberly and David Raley of Holden; Tammie and Terry Dunlap of Centerview; Jennifer and Stephen Dean of Lee's Summit; Ted E. and Jennifer Trunnels of Sparks, Nev.; and David Skillman of Santa Maria, Calif.; 19 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Josephine was preceded in death by sons, David Skillman and Gene Skillman; and two brothers, Stanley Pollack and Walter Pollack. Her interests in life were family and playing cards (winning, of course!) Per Josephine's wishes, following cremation, there will be no service or visitation.
