GRAND PRAIRIE - Rubagene Skillman, 74, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2002 at an Arlington hospital after a long illness.
Funeral Mass: 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 2910 Corn Valley, Grand Prairie. Burial: Southland Memorial Park in Grand Prairie.

Rubagene Skillman was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Verona to Rueben Albert and Hazel Beatrice Womble Brockman. She attended elementary school in Verona and high school in Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Skillman was married to William Franklin Skillman in Yuma, Ariz., in 1940. They had a home in Los Angeles until 1947, when they moved to Grand Prairie. Rubagene enjoyed many years of service, starting in 1956, as an office manager for Industrial Catering Service of Grand Prairie. She was actively working and enjoying her many friends there until her illness. Mrs. Skillman was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Grand Prairie. She was a dedicated mother, sister, grandmother, a devoted Christian and a friend to those whom she touched with such grace and magnitude.
Rubagene was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1967.
Survivors: Sons and daughters-in-law, Brent Thomas and Judy Skillman of Arlington and William Franklin and Sherilyn Kay Skillman of Grand Prairie; daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen Louise and Donald Rae Sublett of Irving and Cynthia Gene and William Lee III of Round Rock; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Tommy Jo Richards of Arlington; and several nieces and nephews.
