Jean Stevens was born on 21 June 1925. She died on 21 February 2011 at the age of 85. MARLIN, JEAN S., on Feb. 21, 2011. Beloved wife of the late David T. Marlin. Mother of David, Jr., Paul, William (Shae), Robert (Christine) and Scott (Dottie) Marlin and Janet (Tim) Martynenko. Sister of Margaret "Peg" Hofmaier (Herb). Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service Friday, 11 A.M., at Bethany Baptist Church, 460 Rhawn St. at Rockwell Ave., where friends may call after 9 A.M. Cemetery Service private. Jean S. Marlin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Monday, February 21, 2011 at Jeanes Hospital. She was 85 years old. Jean was born June 21, 1925, the daughter of the late Edward G. Stevens and the late Elizabeth Stevens (nee - Graham).
She is the beloved wife of the late David T. Marlin. Mother of David Marlin Jr., Paul Marlin, William Marlin (Shae), Robert Marlin (Christine), Scott Marlin (Dottie) and Janet Martynenko (Tim). Sister of Margaret “Peg” Hofmaier (Herb). She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Jean was born, raised and educated in Philadelphia, graduating from Olney High School in the city in 1942 and from St. Luke’s School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Pennsylvania Hospital and, for the majority of her career, at Jeanes Hospital. She also was a private duty nurse at Pennypack Manor Nursing Home. Jean formerly lived at 1810 Rhawn Street in Philadelphia where she raised her family before moving to Ernest Way in the city. She was a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church for many years until it closed and for the past ten years has been a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. She was also a longtime member and past president of the Jeanes Hospital Auxiliary.
Relatives and friends were invited to her Funeral Service on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethany Baptist Church located at 460 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111 (at Rockwell Avenue) where friends were invited to call after 9:00 A.M. Cemetery services were private.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Robert J. Figge Jr., the pastor of Bethany Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Jeanes Hospital Auxiliary, 7600 Central Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
