Melvin Thomas Howard, 90, of Fredericksburg passed away on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at his residence.
He was born in Arlington to the late James and Emma Howard. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific as a seabee.
He is survived by his son, Dennis Howard and wife Robin of Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; two sons, Gary and Kenneth Howard; a daughter, Katherine Howard; two brothers, James Howard Jr. and Wilson Howard; and three sisters, Marion Grabman, June Damer and Rose Cox.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Curry and the Rev. Kenneth Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
