8065. Dewanda Marie Bennett was born on 31 January 1924 in Fort Still, OK. She died on 29 April 2005 at the age of 81 at Covenant Medical Center in Plainview, TX. Dewanda Blenden, 81, of Lockney, died Friday, April 29, 2005 at Covenant Medical Center in Plainview.
She was born Jan. 31, 1924 in Ft. Sill, Okla. to the late Dee B. Bennett and Rosa Lee Skillman Bennett. After graduating from Lockney High School in May of 1941, she worked in Washington D.C. as a secretary. She moved back to Lockney to work with the Seal family theatres. She married Harry Easton Blenden on Feb. 10, 1943 in Fresno, Calif. He preceded her in death April 15, 2000. She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Lockney.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Blenden in 1983 and one sister.
Survivors include two sons, Elton Blenden and wife Ruth of Johnstown, Pa., and Brad Blenden and wife Shirley of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Street Church of Christ in Lockney with Russell Harris, officiating and Jay Don Poindexter, assisting. Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery under the direction of Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Lockney.

Dewanda Marie Bennett and Harry Easton Blenden were married on 10 February 1943 in Fresno, CA. Harry Easton Blenden was born on 17 August 1922 in Rockdale, TX. He died on 15 April 2000 at the age of 77 in Lockney, Floyd, TX. LOCKNEY (Special) Services for Harry Easton Blenden, 77, of Lockney will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Main Street Church of Christ in Lockney with Russell Harris, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery under the direction of Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home.
He died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at his residence in Lockney.
He was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Rockdale. He moved to Lockney in January 1940 from Glenn. After graduation from Lockney High School in May 1940, he worked with his father on the farm.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having enlisted in 1942. He spent two years in the South Pacific.
He married Dewanda Bennett on Feb. 10, 1943, in Fresno, Calif.
He attended Texas Tech University and received his master's degree in 1950. He moved to Pecos, where he was an ag instructor for nine years. He moved to Plainview in 1959 and to Lockney in 1962, where he farmed for several years. He then worked as a crop adjuster for many years until retiring for health reasons.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Blenden, in 1983.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Elton of Johnstown, Pa., and Brad of Amarillo; a brother, Dick A. Blenden of Carlsbad, N.M.; a sister, Sue Thornton of Albuquerque, N.M.; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
