Laura Cooper, age 48 of Breckenridge, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Hendrick Medical Center. Graveside services will held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 7th, in the Eastlawn Memorial Park in Brownwood with Rev. Bill Slaymaker officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday, evening, May 6th, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Laura Leah Smith was born on October 11, 1960 in Stephenville, Texas to parents, Joe Hughes Smith and Dorothy Faye Skillman Smith. She grew up in Oklahoma and attended school in Bangs and Stephenville. Laura married Kenneth David Cooper on September 7, 1983 in Stephenville, Texas. They later moved to Breckenridge. Laura had worked in the Admissions Office of Stephens Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents. Laura is survived by her husband, Kenneth Cooper of Breckenridge; two sons, Ronnie Cooper of Stephenville and Kenneth "Pete" Cooper of Breckenridge; two daughters, Melody Cooper Hill of Breckenridge and Donna Dobbs and husband, Tommie of Peaster; two brothers, Gary Smith of Lake Whitney and Robert Smith and wife, Kim of Stephenville; two sisters, Deborah Lawrence and Lou Ann Snell, both of Brownwood; twelve grandchildren; three nephews and five nieces.
