OWENSBORO, Ky. - William R. "Bill" Skillman, 77, died Monday at Mercy Hospital.
He formerly owned and operated both Old Homestead Heating & Air and Skillman Auto Sales. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Jean (Pardon) Skillman; a daughter, Jan Evans of Owensboro; two sons, Ray Skillman of Greenwood, Ind., and Dr. Jon A. Skillman of Owensboro; two sisters, Josephine Friley of Calgary Alberta, Canada, and Gretchen McDonough of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren, Bill III, Leigh Ann, P.J., Josh, Jennifer and Jonathan Skillman, Nancy Hollensbee, Lauren Elizabeth Evans and Jeffrey and Marshall Burlew; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Christian Life Center or the Humane Society.

William Raymond "Bill" Skillman and Joyce Jean Pardon were married about 1940. Joyce Jean Pardon, daughter of Henry Pardon and Mary Isla Hamilton, was born on 31 July 1917 in Owensboro, Daviess, KY. She died on 3 March 2001 at the age of 83 in Owensboro, Daviess, KY. Mrs. Jean Pardon Skillman, of Griffith Place West, Owensboro, died Saturday, March 2, 2001, at her home. Mrs. Skillman, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Isla Hamilton Pardon, was born in Owensboro, Kentucky. Her husband, William R. Skillman, Sr. preceded her in death in 1995.
Mrs. Skillman was a member of The First Baptist Church of Owensboro, and was a member of the church s Joy Sunday school class. She had been a member of The Cotillion Club, which was the forerunner of today s Junior League of Owensboro. Her favorite activity was working in her yard. She had also enjoyed golf and playing tennis with her group called The Girls. Mrs. Skillman had been a member of the General Evan Shelby Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving Mrs. Skillman are her three children, Ray Skillman of Greenwood, Indiana, Jan Skillman Evans and Dr. John Skillman, both of Owensboro, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Glenn Funeral Home from 4 PM until 8 PM Monday, March 5, and from 1 PM until 3 PM Tuesday. The funeral service for Mrs. Skillman will be 3 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Garry Baldwin and Rev. Bob Farmer Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro.
