George was born August 30, 1943, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Stephen W. and Alfreda M. (Skillman) Sagan. After his retirement from Ohio CAT, George became active with Honor Flight Columbus. A dedicated guardian, he participated in numerous flights and felt a special kinship with the veterans he attended to. He was a member of the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58 and St. Rose Catholic Church in New Lexington. George is survived by his wife Idelle (Young) Sagan; his daughters, Heather (Arthur) Cecil, and Kristen Sagan; grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Meredith, Emily and George Cecil; and brothers, David E. Sagan and Thomas W. Sagan. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert S. Sagan. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated February 10, 2011, at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father James Csazar as celebrant, assisted by Monsignor Robert Metzger. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Somerset American Legion providing military honors. Memorial donations may be made to Honor Flight Columbus, 2185 Ridgecliff Road, Columbus Ohio 43221.
