Bushrod Washington Skillman and Sarah Elizabeth Gouchenour were married on 24 September 1844 in Loudoun Co., VA. They appeared in the census in 1860 in Mt. Gilead, Loudoun Co., VA. In the 1860 Census their children are listed as Elizabeth, 14, Angelina, 8, Ellen 6. Sarah Elizabeth Gouchenour, daughter of Jacob Gouchenour and Elizabeth Lisle Anderson, was born on 10 May 1828. She died on 5 January 1916 at the age of 87. Death of Mrs. Skillman - Mrs. Sarah E. Skillman died at an advanced age yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella V. Ayers, at Gum Springs, Fairfax county. Mrs. Skillman is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. David Franklin Skillman, of Colonial Beach, Virginia; and Mrs. Samuel J. (Sarah Bushrod Skillman) Veirs, of Washington, D.C. The funeral arrangements have not been completed. She was buried at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Fairfax, VA.
