Age 90, of Williamston, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 18, 2012. He was born in Hoyleton, Ill., March 4, 1922, to Benjamin and Etta (Bryant) Skillman. He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton, in 1942. James married Dorothy Kasten Oct. 18, 1941. He was employed by Fisher Body Willow Springs Metal Fab Plant as a tool and die maker and retired in 1987 after 34 years.

He is survived by Dorothy; his daughter Marlene Zoran and son-in-law Joseph Zoran of Williamston; grandsons Michael Zoran and wife Michele of Arvada, Colo., and Steve Zoran and wife Amy of Gregory; great and loving great-grandchildren Evan, Austin, Peyton and Rachel of Colorado and Hannah and Mary of Michigan; sister-in-law Mabel Skillman of Petersburg; brothers-in-law Eldor Kasten and wife Mildred of Joliet, Ill., and Marvin Kasten of Mesa, Ariz.; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.

James Edward Skillman and Dorothy E. Kasten were married on 18 October 1941 in De Soto, Jefferson, MO. Dorothy E. Kasten, daughter of Adolph H. Kasten and Olinda M. Koelling, was born on 14 February 1921 in Hoyleton, Washington, IL. She died on 9 December 2012 at the age of 91. Dorothy E. Skillman of Williamston, MI was called by her risen Saviour out of this earthly life and into His heavenly presence on Sunday December 9, 2012. She was born on February 14, 1921 in Hoyleton, IL to Adolph and Olinda (Koelling) Kasten. She was baptised as an infant and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton.
Dorothy was united in marriage to James E. Skillman on October 18, 1941. James entered his eternal home on September 18, 2012.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Marlene Zoran and son-in-law Joseph Zoran of Williamston, MI; two grandsons, Michael Zoran and wife Michele of Golden, CO and Steve Zoran and wife Amy of Gregory, MI; six great-grandchildren, Evan, Austin, Peyton and Rachel of Colorado and Hannah and Mary of Michigan; brothers Eldor Kasten and wife Mildred of Joliet, IL and Marvin Kasten of Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law Mabel Skillman of Petersburg, MI: also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by James and her parents.
Dorothy was a cheerful and caring person who will be dearly missed by all. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Perry, MI. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Perry on Saturday December 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Randall Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Hoyleton Lutheran Cemetery in Hoyleton, IL on Saturday December 22, 2012. The family will receive friends at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Perry on Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
