1366. Thomas R. Skillman was born in 1838. He served in the military from 24 August 1861 at Co. E. 7th Reg. NJ Infantry in Union Army. Enlisted with brother Theodore, became a corporal, then sergeant, walked out of the military hospital 15 Dec. 1862 after being wounded in the Battle of Williamsburg, Va. May 5 1862

Enlisted as a Corporal on 24 Aug. 1861.
Enlisted in Co. E, 7th Inf. Reg. NJ on 24 Aug. 1861.
Promoted to Full Sergeant on 9 May 1862.
Deserted on 10 Aug. 1863 in Wash. D.C.
Register of Officers and Men of N.J. in the Civil War 1861-65. He died on 8 November 1898 at the age of 60 in Watsontown, Northumberland, PA. Thomas was a carpenter. He was 5 ft 9 in with sandy hair and blue eyes.

Thomas R. Skillman and Sarah Jane Shaw were married on 4 June 1861. Sarah Jane Shaw, daughter of Hugh Shaw and Susannah Bechdel, was born on 1 May 1845 in Howard, Centre, PA. She died on 17 February 1880 at the age of 34.

Thomas R. Skillman and Elizabeth Trump were married on 17 March 1881 at Evan. Luther Church in Watsontown, PA. Elizabeth Trump was born on 7 June 1838 in New Columbia, Union, PA.
