1281. Allen Skillman Jr. was born on 29 July 1860 in Peru, Miami, IN. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Jefferson, Miami, IN. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Jefferson, Miami, IN. In 1880 Allen was a farmer in Jefferson, Miami, IN. He died at his residence on 11 January 1943 at the age of 82 in Richland, Miami, IN. Obit: Peru Daily Tribune, 1/11/1943, p. 2, c. 7.

Allen Skillman, 82, a farmer of Richland township, died at his residence on Route 2 at 9 a.m. Monday of a complication of diseases. He had been ill the past year and was bedfast the past four days.
Mr. Skillman was born in Peru township on July 29, 1860, a son of the late Allen ands Louisa (Spiece) Skillman. He was married in Peru township on March 11, 1908 to Alice Norma Donaldson, who survives. He had lived on the farm where he died for the past 34 years.
Surviving besides the widow are a son, Paul of Lasey, Washington; three daughters, Mrs. May Valcauda of San Francisco, Mrs. Fanny Kelly of Burlington, Kas., and Mrs. Vaughn Neff of Richland township; and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Center Chapel church at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Harry Richer officiating, assisted by Rev. Harley Zumbaugh and burial will be made in the Courter cemetery. The body will be removed from the Wise funeral home to the residence of the daughter, Mrs. Neff, in Richland township, at 3 p.m. Tuesday, where friends may call. He was buried at Courter Cemetery in Jefferson, Miami, IN. Allen was a Methodist circuit rider in Indiana. He built the Skillman Chapel. Later torn down and replaced with another church, but not used as a church at present. (2007)

Allen Skillman Jr. and Mary Alice Chaffin were married on 5 August 1887 in Coffey Co., KS. Mary Alice Chaffin, daughter of Ormon Chaffin and Julia Cox, was born in 1863. She died on 15 September 1945 at the age of 82 in Puyallup, Pierce, WA. She was buried at Woodlawn Abbey in Sumner, Pierce, WA.

Allen Skillman Jr. and Alice Norma Donaldson were married on 11 March 1908 in Peru, Miami, IN. Alice Norma Donaldson, daughter of Lorenzo Donaldson and Elizabeth Westfeffer, was born on 7 July 1872 in Denver, Miami, IN. She died about 3 September 1950 at the age of 78 in Peru, Miami, IN. Obit: Peru Daily Tribune, 9/5/1950, p. 2, c. 4 ..died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday at Dukes hospital of complications. She was ill eight months. She was buried at Courter Cemetery in Jefferson, Miami, IN.
