He served in the military Pvt 17 BN Inf Repl UNG CP in 1917 in U.S. Army. He appeared in the census in 1920 at New Cut Rd. in Fairfax Co., VA. In 1920 Census he was a "hired man" living with the Fausler(sp?) family. Arthur lived in Virginia in May 1971. He died on 18 May 1971 at the age of 78. He had Social Security Number 224-48-7055. Arthur was buried at Sudley UMC Cemetery in Prince William Co., VA.

Bernard Lee "Arthur" Skillman and Betty Elizabeth Willis were married in 1927. Betty Elizabeth Willis, daughter of Walter Alfred Curtis Willis and Mary Catherine Riley, was born in 1903 in Front Royal, Warren, VA. She died in 1996 at the age of 93 at Annaburg Manor Nursing Home in Manassas, Prince William, VA.

She appeared in the census in 1920 in Little River Pike, Loudoun, VA. In 1920 Census she is married and living with her widowed father, Clarence Beach. She died in 1943 at the age of 44.
